With 7,500 ebooks published daily on Amazon, it can be hard to find what you’re looking for — and even harder for new authors to get noticed. Thank you for making the effort to look for my ebooks.

1. How to Find My Stories

Search “Sarah Burt Howell” on Amazon, Apple Books, or Barnes & Noble.
(Using my full name, including Burt, is important — that’s how my books appear in the listings.)

2. How to Read on Any Device

The easiest way is to use Amazon.

On a computer:

  • Visit www.amazon.com and sign in with your Amazon account.

  • After you search for "Sarah Burt Howell" you'll see three of my ebooks at the top the search results page: The Hole, The Bird Watchers, and The Acoustic Arborist. Choose one to get started.

  • After you purchase the ebook, the button that used to say "Buy" will say, “Read Now.” Click on that, and it will opens the ebooks in Amazon’s built-in reader — no extra app required.

  • Once you purchase an ebook, it lives in your Kindle library.

  • To access your Kindle library from your computer, visit https://read.amazon.com (and sign in, if necessary).

On your phone or tablet:

  • You can use the free Kindle app to read an ebook (available in your app store).

3. How to Review my Stories

The only way for a new author to get found by readers is if the Amazon website recommends their books. The books that get recommended are the ones with reviews. If you write a review for one or more of my ebooks, you will directly help me connect with new readers. I will be eternally grateful.

  • Visit www.amazon.com and sign in with your Amazon account.

  • Navigate to one of my ebook pages (see above).

  • If you haven't already purchased the ebook, please do -- verified purchases create more weight in the algorithm.

  • Click on the review stars that appear directly beneath the book title. This will move you down the page to the section where readers can leave reviews. At the bottom of your screen there is a button that says "Review this book"

  • Press that button, choose the number of stars for your review, and leave an honest review -- no spoilers please - and don't worry about being too elaborate or original, you just need to imagine yourself talking to a friend, and think about what you would say if you were describing or recommending the book. People use these comments all the time, while deciding on what to read next.

  • When you're done, press submit and know that I am grateful.
