About Sarah
I Write Short Stories
I spent my childhood in upstate New York. At a New Hampshire boarding school, George Carlisle taught me patience and exuberance for writing. At Sarah Lawrence College, I wrote two novels under the guidance of Joe Papaleo and began a story collection in Myra Goldberg's workshop in 1986.
I've been writing short stories ever since. I chose flexible jobs so I could focus on writing. In Manhattan, I worked for Milon Henry Levine at College Magazine and then in sub-rights at William Morrow. In Los Angeles, I wrote screenplays and read scripts for MGM. In Seattle, I worked in a bookstore and wrote for websites.
While developing my stories at the Whidbey Island MFA Program from 2011–2013, I had the opportunity to study magical realism with Kathleen Alcalá and poetry with David Wagoner. Over the next decade, I continued refining them through writing classes and groups, and with the guidance of talented editors.
In the summer of 2024, I released two of my stories on Amazon, launching my journey as a published indie author. More stories will follow soon. I love technology and am excited to connect with readers around the world through my stories.
